…sounds familiar? I don’t consider myself much of a fashionista or a shopper for that matter. I like to feel comfortable in what I wear (middle-age alert) and I never seem to be able to match shoes with what I’m wearing. Shopping for clothes can be such a painful and disappointing experience. My 155cm (about 5 foot) frame, makes everything looks too long, oversized and bulky.
Last month I had the super talented and amazing Skyler McCurine with Le Red Balloon come over to my house for a closet organization and consulting session. All I could think was, “what can she possibly find in my closet that I don’t already know about?” and “what if she doesn’t find anything?”.
We started off with some questions like “What were you wearing the last time you felt really comfortable, confident, and utterly fabulous?”, “Describe your current style in three words” and “Describe the style you want”. All fun and surprisingly hard questions to answer.
Skyler, being the professional that she is, cheered me on as I tried to figure out what kind of style that I really wanted. I believe I came up with comfortable, bohemian and most importantly; sassy!
We jammed out to some groovy tunes, toasted with bubbly water as Skyler did her Magic in my closet. Magic is the right word as she managed to pull out and put together no less than 17 fabulous outfits and combinations that I never would have dreamed about creating myself. This fabulous skirt from Anthropologie became a dress!
She asked for me to pull out items that I loved but simply couldn’t figure out how to wear or what to wear it with. And voila`! She found the perfect combinations with items that I never wore but didn’t want to let go of.
I felt like a million dollars after my closet re-organization with Skyler and didn’t have to spend a single dollar on new clothes!
I highly recommend this amazeballs experience to anyone out there that utters the famous words “I got a closet full of clothes and NOTHING to wear!”
Skyler is also a great resource to help select outfits for a photo shoot with yours truly 🙂
